Our summer signings
I think it’s fair to judge players signed in the summer now as we’ve had a good look at most of them now
Imo I’m not sure one of the 8 summer signings improves the team which considering we spent 180 million is absolutely unbelievable, although tbf there’s a couple we’ve not really seen much.

Areola is a solid signing and with his distribution I’d actually have him starting league games, but there’s very little between him and fab although I’d say that’s a good think as fab has been an excellent keeper for us

Kehrer is ok very tidy on the ball but suspect defensively he seems to keep finding different was to give goals away the one and Man Utd was criminal I’d slaughter my 10 year old if he did that on a Sunday. Not sure he’s better than Johnson but I’d probably start both and not have cresswell but I’m not sure anybody could say he was an obvious upgrade

Aguerd not really got opinion on this fella yet as he’s barely played hopefully he’ll live up to the hype and before we started the season he was the one player I was thinking would make a massive difference.

Emerson I said this fella was rubbish and not seen a single thing that would change my mind terrible signing there is no way on gods earth we watched this bloke pretty sure we bought him because he played for Chelsea and Italy and the fact he’s not as good as the completely finished cresswell tells you everything you need to know about him

Flynn Downes hard to judge he was great in Europe but he was playing against league one qualify players then he got played at No.10 which is ludicrous the bloke was so clearly uncomfortable there and looked like he didn’t have a clue what he was meant to be doing. Been disappointed when he’s come on in games and does things far to easy for me doesn’t seem to take responsibility and plays things far to easy. Having said all that I’d still be starting him over the donkey Soucek

Paqueta I’m all for giving players time to settle but I actually have no idea what this bloke is meant to be good at he can’t run with the ball his passing is terrible today was actually embarrassing he literally couldn’t pass the ball five yards, he can’t seem to shoot. Brazil must be Fucking useless if this fella starts every game.

Scammaca I said when we signed him this player was a carbon copy of Haller and I’ve not seen anything to say I was wrong. I don’t see this fella ever being a success in the prem way too slow not aggressive enough doesn’t seem to get anywhere near any cross we put in. He’s probably a better player than Antonio but we certainly aren’t a better team when he plays

Cornet not seen much of him to be fair but not been impressed with what I have seen

Tbf to some of the players I don’t think it helps them the way we play but none of them have added anything of note and if I was picking the team only probably Areola and Kehrer would start. I get the feeling they are not all the managers choices, if I was to guess I’d only say Areola Aguerd Kehrer and Paqueta were players he wanted.
Hopefully they’ll all improve as the seasons goes on but I have my doubts that many will improve.

Re: Our summer signings
I wouldn't slag off any of the new arrivals yet. We've got a prick that's played fornals out of position for eighteen months, and downes as a no10. The manager is a clown, tactically inept and devoid of any positivity. I just hope transfer requests aren't handed in, if the inevitable happens and he stays

Re: Our summer signings
You dont sign the amount of decent players which have that suddenly look shit without there being another reason they're not performing.

In this instance its pretty clear that its the manager.

Re: Our summer signings
I think Paqueta is getting a bit of an easy ride from many on here.

I keep hearing about “Our system doesn’t suit him” or “He’s not being given the freedom to express himself etc” but for the price we paid and the reputation that came with him I would have expected better.

The really good players always adapt to their surroundings and stand out in teams even if that team/other players are struggling.

I know he plays for Brazil but they are certainly not the Brazil of old and even the better teams have the occasional average player who just gets picked because the manager likes his work rate even if he isn’t doing much else.

It concerns me that he was a flop at AC Milan before he went to Lyon.
Maybe the French league is his level?

Re: Our summer signings
I think that's the problem, "from what we have seen". Paqueta is clearly not a number 10. Scammaca is clearly not a lone striker in a counter system, although he didn't actually look that great when we pushed on today. I had high hopes that Cornet would be a tricky wide man whipping crosses in from the left but we haven't seen much of him. Moyes brought in thee players without seemingly much plan on how they are going to fit in. Do players these days actually as at talks how the manager is going to use them? Does Paqueta ask if he is going to be playing in his usual deeper role where he plays for Brazil? Or do they just take the money and take a chance?

Re: Our summer signings
Spending £160m and making yourself worse is really quite an amazing achievement. Only the Moroccan and Downs look like money even half well spent.

Re: Our summer signings
It’s what should cost his he’s job, just like to did Pellegrini. The manager has stated that your only ad good as your recruitment and ours has been shit. We’ve been here before as WH fan’s, scamacca & paqueta aren’t good enough. It’s Haller & Anderson all over again.

Re: Our summer signings
Todays game was the first time that we've pushed up but the way Moyes sets up no striker is going to get enough of the ball to show his true worth.
I'm watching Newcastle now and the amount of chances they creat is enough to make Iain Dowie look good.

Re: Our summer signings
All those signings would look 100% better with 2 half decent full backs. It really is that simple

Re: Our summer signings
Brazil must be absolute dogshit to have Paqueta 10 the fella’s a fraud with apparently very little going for him another than some ‘ nice touches ‘

He looks to me like he’s been dragged in off the street. Lightweight, lost, ball watching

Re: Our summer signings
The best thing for all concerned is that Brazil go deep in the world cup with Paqueta topping the scoring/assist charts and we can get back what what we paid for him in the next window

PwoperNaughtyButNot 1:24 Sun Nov 13
Re: Our summer signings
Moyes has no history or evidence or successfully making big money signings. It’s not his thing.

Paqueta is a punt on him shining in the WC and selling for a profit - see also Keherer

Re: Our summer signings
Let’s get it right, the only Brazilian that would look good in a MOYES set up would be that DUNGA…..who was often questioned on how he could possibly be a Brazilian footballer.

Paqueta struggled in Italy a footballing nation famed for it’s defensive expertise….and the only English team that has a plan A of defend until we concede….then chase down blind alleys….

Re: Our summer signings
The best for all concerned is the manager is sacked and somebody is brought in that can get the best out of the players because they are not shit players.

You only have to look at how poor Bowen is this season to realise where the problem is.

Re: Our summer signings
The manager is the problem not the players.

Re: Our summer signings
Correct.

At the very least you would try these players with another manager to test the theory, before writing them off.

Any Old Iron 3:04 Sun Nov 13
Re: Our summer signings
Apart from Benrahma all outfield players look worse than last season, even Rice.

The buck stops with the manager and Moyes has to go now.

Manuel 4:15 Sun Nov 13
Re: Our summer signings
Let's not go down the usual road of making excuses for these players, Pacqueta is an absolute abomination. As said, what exactly is he meant to be doing? I've seen 8 year olds pass the ball better. Even if we had spent 5 mil on him we'd be saying we've been burnt, for all the stick Anderson got even he looked much better than this bloke. If he is to turn it around he has a LOT to do 'coz right now he's an absolute passenger and offers zilch.

Manuel 4:23 Sun Nov 13
Re: Our summer signings
As for Scamacca- Let's not kid ourselves, he simply isn't very good is he. He doesn't have anyhere near enough in his locker to be a top striker in the PL, if you have eyes you can clearly see this.
